Rotation 10.04.19

LATE POST!

I know this is a day late, but not a dollar short. The weekends get crazy, but here we are with another edition of the Rotation! This week we got new goodies from some of my favorites. If you are searching for new music look no further.

Featured Albums:

Over It by Summer Walker

Over It is the highly anticipated album from Summer Walker. Walker gave us a mixtape in late 2018, Last Day of Summer, and an EP in early 2019, CLEAR. Both amazing in different ways, but Over It leans more towards the Last Days of Summer feel. This album has quite a few stand out tracks, essentially the whole middle of the album and I wish I was kidding, but I really could’ve done without “Stretch You Out” featuring A Boogie wit da Hoodie. The stand out feature of the album is “Come Thru” which features Usher and uses an Usher sample of “You Make Me Wanna..” which in theory I never knew I needed but I am very thankful to have now that it’s here.

Without Fear by Dermot Kennedy

I would argue to say that Dermot Kennedy is potentially one of my favorite songwriters right now. I stumble through his music feeling the pains of the words and melodies. His music is meant to be felt fully and honestly the debut studio album, Without Fear, is no different. This is an album you have to sit with so expect more from me on this artist in the future because I truly love him, and his music but I definitely need more time to fully share my views on this album. I still think if you want to get a taste of his sound you should start with my favorite track from the album is “The Corner.”

Featured EP:

DETOUR by JVCK JAMES

First things first JVCK JAMES is amazing and he makes me feel like Frank Ocean did the first time I heard him, warm and soothed. From the moment I started DETOUR, I felt that same feeling. DETOUR takes you on a journey with cheeky sweet lyrics and ends with the bittersweet notes of “SUMMER” There is not one song on here I do not love, and I mean that, so just trust me and go check it out.
